Music has always been an integral part of Susan’s life, but it became an obsession in 1994.  While her classmates were going off to college, she was introduced  to the Boston underground house music scene where she met the legendary DJ Bruno. Club life and electronic dance music became her life.  It brought so much joy to her, it was only natural for her to bring the joy she felt to others on the dance floor.  She spent years perfecting her sound and skills as a turntablist and landed her first professional gig as Lil' Sue, opening for DJ Felix at Cat Club Fridays at the Roxy in Boston.

Through diligent distribution of her mix tapes, Susan received recognition by a promotional group called the Muck Crew based in Hartford, CT. She was then able to hone her talents in front of  thousands at such venues as The Asylum in Springfield, MA and The Muni in Hartford, CT from 1996 to 1998.  In 1998, Susan was recognized by Volume Productions in Providence, RI and was working as  a resident at Energy & Twist while headlining at hundreds of events throughout New England.

In her early years as a DJ, she touched upon several different dance music genres to continue to train herself further on perfecting her skills.  She was known to play house, trance, breaks, and even drum and bass.

Susan began her reinvention in 2001, changing her name to DJ Susan Esthera and taking guest spots and residencies in mainstream nightclubs.

She refused to believe that breaking into the Boston club scene was as impossible as she had been told. She worked tirelessly distributing her demos to promoters and club goers. This determination gave Susan a chance to compete for a spot as resident DJ at the now defunct Axis on Lansdowne St in Boston on Monday nights. Susan won the gig. Shortly afterward she landed the resident position next door at Glamorous Life Thursdays at Embassy and then, monthly resident for Sundays at Avalon.  She worked at each venue until they all closed their doors in 2008.

Around that same time Susan began working with Kristen Porter and Dyke Night Productions playing at Toast in Somerville, MA which ranked high in popularity and earned several "Best Of" awards.

Susan added mixing and editing music videos to her repertoire in 2010 which landed her at her current DJ home, Club Cafe on Columbus Ave.,  a staple in Boston Nightlife Entertainment for three decades.

2014 is the year Susan will celebrate twenty years as a professional DJ. She is considered by many to be one of the most respected and sought after DJs in the New England area.
